Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective July 14, 2026

Clorasync (“the App”) is a poetic language exploration tool for writers and poets. It helps you discover related words, steer tone with Ink Compass, apply poetic moves, sketch draft lines, and keep a local chronicle of your wanderings. This Privacy Policy describes what data the App handles, how it is used, and your rights.

Please read this policy before using online lookup or voice input. You control whether to initiate those features. If you do not want Query Data sent to third-party word services, do not submit an online search. You may continue to access parts of the App that do not require an online lookup, subject to the subscription and feature availability described in the App.

1. Local Profile & Authentication

No cloud account is required. Clorasync does not use Sign in with Apple, email/password login, or any server-side user account system. When you first use the App, you choose a local scribe name so the App can greet you and label your experience on your device.

Your scribe name and sign-in timestamp are stored locally on your device only using iOS UserDefaults. We do not upload your scribe name to our servers because Clorasync does not operate a user-account backend for core App functionality.

You may change your scribe name at any time in Settings. Doing so updates the local profile on your device only.

2. Data Processed Off-Device

To provide word exploration, definitions, tone analysis, and related features, Clorasync sends limited query data directly from your device to third-party services over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not route these requests through our own backend servers. An online request is initiated when you submit a search or select a refinement that requires new results. Do not submit personal, confidential, or sensitive information as Query Data.

What may be sent off your device:

What is NOT sent with exploration queries:

Third-party recipients of off-device data may include:

These providers receive only the information needed to perform the requested feature, but their servers may also receive technical network information, such as the IP address used to establish the connection. Third-party providers process data under their own terms and privacy practices. We review the information made available by providers and expect them to protect Query Data consistently with applicable law and Apple’s requirements; however, we do not control their systems and do not make promises about a provider’s retention, logging, or secondary use unless that promise is expressly stated below. If you do not accept third-party processing, do not use online lookup or voice input.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only. It is not uploaded to our servers.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

5. Microphone & Speech Recognition

If you choose to use voice input, Clorasync requests access to your microphone and Apple’s speech recognition service. Audio is used only to convert your spoken seed word into text for search. You can deny these permissions and still use the App by typing instead. Apple’s handling of speech data is governed by Apple’s own policies.

6. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Off-device data transfers are limited to those described in Sections 2 and 5: word and dictionary queries sent to Datamuse and public dictionary services, plus Apple services needed for purchases, speech, and speech output.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

Your choice and withdrawal: You choose whether to initiate each online lookup. You can stop future Query Data transfers at any time by not submitting further searches or refinements that require online results. You can also deny or revoke microphone and speech-recognition access in iOS Settings. Because the current version does not operate a user-account or query-logging backend, Clorasync cannot delete data from a third-party provider’s systems on your behalf. Contact us at the email in Section 14 if you have a privacy question or request.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

On your device: All locally stored data — including your scribe name, chronicle, wordbooks, explore session, and preferences — is removed when you delete the App from your device.

Off-device query data: Clorasync itself does not maintain a separate server-side log of your searches because it does not operate a query-logging backend. Datamuse states in its published API privacy information that its servers keep a temporary log of queries and discard that log at the end of the day after the request was made; it retains only long-term aggregate request counts grouped by broad request category. Free Dictionary API receives the requested word to return dictionary results, but its public documentation does not specify a query-log retention period. We therefore do not claim that Free Dictionary API immediately deletes or never retains a query. Provider practices may change, and their current published information governs their processing.

Subscriptions: Your purchase history and subscription entitlements are managed by Apple through your Apple ID. Deleting the App does not cancel an active subscription. You must manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

8. Subscriptions

Clorasync offers an optional paid auto-renewable subscription (“Clorasync Premium”) managed entirely through Apple’s App Store in-app purchase system. Apple handles all billing; we do not receive or store your payment information.

Subscription status is validated on your device through Apple StoreKit. You can restore eligible purchases using the “Restore Purchases” feature in the App, subject to Apple’s records for your Apple ID.

9. Verse Sketch & Generated Text

Verse Sketch creates draft poetic lines locally on your device using your current exploration path, candidate words, and tone context. These lines are generated from templates and on-device logic. Verse Sketch output is not uploaded to our servers.

10. Children’s Privacy

Clorasync is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is intended for general audiences who can use a creative writing tool appropriately.

11. Security

Communication between the App and third-party word or dictionary services uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Locally stored App data resides in your device’s app sandbox and standard iOS storage mechanisms.

No system is perfectly secure. We use industry-standard practices where applicable, but cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet or stored on any device.

12. International Users

Third-party services such as Datamuse and public dictionary APIs may process data in the United States or other countries where those providers operate. By using the App you understand that query data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country of residence.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted in the App where appropriate. Continued use of the App after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
